How resilient is your island city?

This workshop revolves around resilience in island contexts and how to build resilience in your city. In this session we will build knowledge about the role of UN-Habitat, learn about global resilience frameworks and align their application in urban settings, introduce our Urban Resilience Programme and its resilience work with Port Vila, (Vanuatu). We will also present the City Resilience Profiling Tool and the opportunities it provides for cities in the future.

The project involves the rehabilitation of the Ca Ses Llúcies building in terms of its structure and energy efficiency. The building is located on the University of the Balearic Islands' (UIB) campus. Both, the building (with an approximate surface area of 250m2 split over two floors) and its surroundings (of roughly 1,000m2) have to serve as an example of a sustainable, intelligent and healthy space in the context of the UIB's innovation programme called SmartUIB.

Making international, seamless multimodal travel possible: DORA Project.

Sustainable and seamless multimodal transport can also be international. European project DORA focuses on international travelers which combine air and land transport in an integrated manner. DORA has deployed an intelligent platform that provides multimodal, dynamic, door-to-door travel recommendations optimized for air/land international travelers, based on innovative services that improve their experience. In this workshop we will address the points of view and experiences of relevant stakeholders: technology providers, city managers and transport operators.

As the resilience framework and reporting dashboards are created for a set of islands, we want to join us in making those goals, that deep resilience impact, a reality.

Island initiatives & technological solutions driving EU islands' decarbonisation forward
